The Last of Us 2 has 8 Training Manual Locations. The Training Manuals are a type of Collectible that unlocks new Player Upgrades Skill Trees. You can then use Supplements to unlock individual Skills. All of these items Training Manuals, Supplements are also part of the All-in-One Collectible Guide, which is recommended if you also want the other Collectibles. If you only need the Training Manuals specifically, they are listed below with their locations. While there are 10 Skill Trees in total, 2 of them are automatically unlocked at Chapter 2 Waking Up & Chapter 24 The Stadium. The remaining 8 requires a Training Manual each. The good news is there are more spawns than you need. If you miss one Training Manual Location, the next will have the Manual you missed. For example, if you missed the first location, then the second location will have the first Manual and so on. So to make things easier to follow, it’s highly recommended to not miss anything here. There are some bonus spawns. Below are the first spawn points for each Manual. Having unlocked all 10 skill trees from Training Manuals unlocks the Journeyman trophy. However, unlike other Collectibles that you can get via Chapter Select this won’t work for Manuals. You must hold all Manuals at the same time find them in a continuous playthrough to pop the trophy. Note Players who got the Pre-Order Training Manual Bonus will automatically have the first Manual in their backpack. For those players the Crafting Manual won’t spawn because you already have it. Those with the Pre-Order DLC will also get an additional spawn at the end of Chapter 9 Downtown in the hotel, in the bedroom upstairs this won’t be there for players without the Pre-Order DLC. Training Manuals Crafting Stealth Precision Explosives Covert Ops Close Quarters Firearms Ordnance Training Manual 1 Crafting Chapter 9 Downtown Head north to the broken highway bridge between 6th Ave & 7th Ave. There’s a firetruck on the bridge. Climb the parked military truck next to the bridge, from its roof you can jump to the firetruck. Pick up the fire hose and throw it down the bridge + to a highway segment with an overturned truck. Climb down the hose and swing off it to the rolled over truck, in it is the first training manual in the game. These unlock new skill trees for you on which you can spend Supplements press Touchpad to open your backpack and scroll to the skill trees. Note Players with the Pre-Order Training Manual DLC will already have this Manual in their backpack and it won’t spawn here. Instead, those players will find the “Stealth Manual” early at the end of Chapter 9 Downtown in the hotel, bedroom upstairs. This won’t affect the trophies, already having it in your backpack will suffice and doesn’t void any trophy. Training Manual 2 Stealth Chapter 11 Capitol Hill After jumping down the Motel or pushing the dumpster to jump the fence, walk all the way to the left to find a book store across from a gas station. Enter the book store and in the room with the cash register you can find a Training Manual. Note Players with the Pre-Order Training Manual DLC can already find the “Stealth Manual” early at the end of Chapter 9 Downtown in the hotel, bedroom upstairs. For players without the DLC it won’t spawn until Chapter 11. Training Manual 3 Precision Chapter 16 Hillcrest Halfway through the chapter you will push a dumpster up a road and use it to jump into a building with a Workbench. Leave this building and you’ll come to an area with shops on the left and right. Enter the first shop on the right “Goldstar Liquor”. Drop down into the cellar, beware of 2 Shamblers down there. Exit the cellar where the light is coming from to reach a nursery. The Training Manual is on the floor there. Training Manual 4 Explosives Chapter 18 The Seraphites After passing under the overpass on the main road just after a taxi, take a left turn to reach a long apartment building. In front of the closed main entrance there’s a parked truck. Climb on its roof, from there jump onto the apartment building’s roof. Enter through the window and go into the first room on the left. Interact with the Workbench there and a human enemy will attack you from behind. Kill him and his gang, then head inside the room they stormed out of to find a Training Manual. Training Manual 5 Covert Ops Chapter 25 On Foot When you have to carry a ladder and use it as a bridge to a boat that’s hanging from the ceiling, check inside the hanging boat for a Training Manual location. Training Manual 6 Close Quarters Chapter 28 Hostile Territory Shortly after the start of the chapter you climb a fence and split up with Manny. In front of you will be a shop called “Spicy Dumpling”. Continue past this shop downstairs. Before going into the next building “Tang Fabrics & Imports”, climb through the broken window on the left for a room with a Training Manual location. Training Manual 7 Firearms Chapter 30 The Forest After the boss fight against the big woman with a pickaxe, enter the next building “La Rosa’s Auto Shop”. Enter the hallway on the right and immediately turn right again into a side office. There you find a Training Manual on a desk. Training Manual 8 Ordnance Chapter 31 The Coast On the top deck of the ship, inside the safe at the ship’s helm the ship’s “steering wheel”. The safe code is 90-77-01 and it contains the last Training Manual. Bonus Training Manual Location Chapter 38 The Island Just in case you missed a Training Manual, they will keep respawning in a few more “backup spots”. One such spot is at the start of Chapter 38 The Island. After climbing up the first ladder in this chapter, check the back of the truck on the left. A Coin Collectible is also in there. This sits beneath Pendant 4 Before entering the Goldstone Building the slanted building after you view the destroyed downtown area, continue forward into the little park area. Here, you'll find another pendant dangling from a tree. Shoot it down to pick it 12 Field Ops Log As you ascend the staircase inside the Goldstone Building, you'll pass a second dead soldier. This lies next to 13 Firefly Map When you reach the bottom of the building, you'll receive your first Molotov. Just beyond is a short staircase. Ascend it to find another artifact near a dead 14 Note to Derek On your way out of the subway beneath the building, Tess will have Ellie follow you around as you encounter several Clickers. Take a left from where you being this encounter to find a convenience store. A pendant waits on the other Outskirts - The Capitol Building Artifact 16 Firefly Orders After descending the stairs, turn around to find this lying next to a dead Pendant 6 While moving through the green muck, bear left to reach the gazebo. Inside, you'll find this pendant next to one of the 17 Smuggler Note As you swim through the flooded subway, you'll come to a ladder on a higher ledge. Directly across from this is a lower ledge near Ellie you can climb on to. This artifact lies next to corpse on that Pendant 7 Immediately beyond the previous artifact is a spot where you can dive. Do so to find a flooded office. You'll also find a pendant on the shelves Town - The Woods Artifact 18 Pills Note Next to the gate you boost Ellie over is a red brick building. Enter it and head upstairs to find a small office. On the other side of the desk, you'll find this on the 19 Note to Bob As you head down the street past the evacuation notices, make your way to the barricade at the end. You'll find this manual on the bottom 31 Ambush Map Before exiting the building through the brown door, head down the hall through grey one. Turn around upon entering to find this pinned to the 2 Termination Shock Once you drop to the ground from the hunters' building, you'll be near a bus. Step aboard and make a left to find this on the ground in the 32 Lost Hill Note When you reach the checkpoint, hop over the right sandbag pile the one near the graffiti that Ellie points out. Check in the booth here for a well hidden 33 Traitors Flyer After moving through the turnstile, there will be a large covered area in front of you. Head toward it and turn around to find this plastered to the Pendant 11 On the far end of the large bookstore is an alley. Head down it to find a pendant behind an overturned 34 Abandon Zone Note On the opposite side of the bookstore is another alley. Head down it, enter the building, and make a right. Mantle the first ledge and turn left to find this item sitting on a 35 Applicant Checklist Before heading to the top floor of the bookstore, head to the front of the store and check behind the staircase there. You'll find another artifact 36 Lost Areas Map Use the staircase near the centre of the store to reach the top floor of the building, and make a left. In this corner is a locked door you can open with a shiv. Do so to find lots of supplies and this 37 Mother's Letter Proceed until a short cut scene with hunters taking a plank occurs. Make an immediate left to spot a door marked with a red "X." Use a shiv to open this door, and you'll find an artifact atop a chair directly 38 Stash Note When you swim through the green muck to help Ellie reach the plank, hang left toward this submerge storage unit. Swim through it you'll have to eventually to enter a flooded a building with a staircase in the rear. Head up, and follow the room as it wraps around to find an artifact sitting on a - Hotel Lobby Artifact 39 Note to Staff After using the ladder to bypass the broken staircase, turn right. You can shimmy along the edges here to reach an open suitcase in front of some double doors. This note lies inside that Manual 3 Shiv Reinforcement With the Note to Staff in hand, you can open the safe in the lobby. Drop to the ground floor and look behind the check in desk for said safe. Another manual lies 40 Hotel Keycard You'll find this in the area where you fight the Bloater. After taking out all the infected, head to the upper floor via the stairwell. Follow the rooms as they wrap around to the right to find a security room. In here, this artifact rests next to a stack of televisions. This unlocks your exit door, so you'll need to obtain it anyway.Comic 3 Accretion Once Ellie saves you, climb the ladder and enter the next room. Exit via the left door to spot a bar across a gap. You can shimmy over there, where you'll find another comic atop a Pendant 12 Soon after, you'll drop down to a lower floor. As you turn down the hallway, there will be two restroom entrances on your left. Enter the second and head to the corner stall to find this on the ground near the Manual 4 Melee Knots Just past the elevators on the same side of the hallway is a desk with a red chair. This manual sits on that - Financial District Artifact 41 Fireflies Note Battle your way through the plaza where Joel gives Ellie the rifle, and head forward. On the right will be a building labelled Don Fiocchi Subs. Enter and head to the back room with the blood smear to find this item on the 42 Final Attack Note After ascending the staircase and taking out the two patrolling hunters, take a right before dropping to street level. In this small office room, an artifact lies beneath a 43 Mob Attack Note As you come around a corner street, there will be enemies on a ledge of the Delta Direct building. Head inside that building via the doorway under the sign and take the stairs. Once on the top floor, check behind the large desk for a hidden 44 Truck Note Before leaving the area, you'll pass by the Ration Depot. Enter and move straight ahead past the first desk to find an artifact sitting atop a second desk.

Inside the building you can find, a note lying next to the door. You'll learn from it that the combination is 'the big win". Find a Terra Lotto lottery note on the notice board in the barracks. The red numbers are the combination. Get out of the barracks and walk a bit in a straight line. Do not approach the railway tracks yet. Find the small hole in the wall of the building on the right - see the picture above. Squeeze through it. Inside the building, you'll find a safe. The safe's code is 17-38-07. In the safe, you'll find a Hunting Pistol it's a great weapon for firing powerful single shots, as well as ammunition. Safe in the Hostile territory stage Reach the street shown in the picture above. Abby can enter the stores located on the left and right. If necessary, you can break the glass to get inside. One of them has an "indestructible" shutter, but we will get inside it in a different way. The safe is inside the Jasmine Bakery located on the left. The safe combination is in the Ruby Dragon building on the left side of the alley. Find the door at the back of the building. Enter them and go up the staircase leading to the first floor. There are a few clickers here. After that, go to the large balcony shown in the picture. Run and jump into the King Street Relics building on the opposite side of the alley. Go left. Around the corner, you will find a note lying on a box with a combination to the safe. You can now return to the bakery building and interact with the safe. The code is 68-96-89. In the safe, you will find supplements, ammunition and a candy bar. Safe from The Coast stage This safe is located on the deck of the large ferry. At some point in the mission, Abby reaches the wreck and begins exploring it. Soon after getting the crossbow, Abby finds the document shown in the picture - it lies on one of the metal beds. The safe's combination is written on it. The safe can be found in the further part of the ferry - use the stairs leading to the ship's highest deck. When you walk up the stairs to the upper deck you will find yourself next to the captain's bridge - examine it and get rid of the monster that may be here. You will find a safe here. The combination to open it is 90-77-01. In the safe, you will find the Ordnance training manual, which will unlock a new category of passive abilities. It also contains scrap metal and supplements.
